ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is delighted to award a £25,000 grant to Rock2Recovery (R2R) to support its mental health coaching programmes.
R2R provides specialist coaching to veterans, serving military personnel and the emergency services.
Confidential one-to-one coaching sessions are delivered at various centres from Exeter to Edinburgh. They are free of charge and focus on using positive thinking to manage stress and recover from trauma. This non-clinical approach is aimed at inspiring and motivating individuals to find the positive activity or “rock” in their lives.
R2R started in 2015 and has coached over 2,500 people, of which 1,079 are veterans, serving personnel or Army family members.
Our grant will go towards helping R2R deliver its coaching sessions for at least another seven years.
Charlie Hobson, Company Secretary and Officer, Rock2 Recovery, said:
“We are thrilled to receive this grant from the ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, which will help us to continue our life-saving work with serving Army personnel, veterans and their families. Nearly half of R2R’s clients are from the Army and we aim to support the excellent clinical services available with an alternative and immediate non-clinical approach. We hope that this grant will encourage more members of the Army family to come forward and use our coaching.”
Peter Monteith, Chief of Staff at ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, added:
“Rock2Recovery’s life-changing coaching support to veterans and families is different from the more traditional methods of mental health therapy. Its success rate tells its own story. We are very pleased to make this donation to its work.”
