To celebrate 30 years of the championship, special veteran teams will also participate this year.
The OA Inter-Services Triathlon sees some of the best athletes from across the Armed Forces push themselves to the limit in individual and team categories. Competitors will swim through 1.5 km of open water, cycle 41 km of tricky terrain and finish the course with a 10 km run. The Fire, Police and Prison services are also entering guest teams.
In addition to the usual groupings, there will be the ‘Legends Championship’, where the Royal Navy, RAF and Army will enter additional teams of 15 veteran athletes. The change is to recognise the 30th anniversary of the triathlon – a major event in the Armed Forces sporting calendar. These participants are all ex-services and have previously competed in the inter-services triathlon.
Organised this year by the Royal Navy Triathlon Association, the championship takes place on Wednesday 25th July.
