The Veterans Contact Point is very proud to announce that we have received The King’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The VCP is a local military charity that supports veterans of the UK armed forces, both regular and reserve, and their families in the Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull areas. The VCP has been a registered charity since 2014 and our main office is in Nuneaton with a satellite office in Warwick.
We support veterans with a wide range of issues including mental and physical health, drug and alcohol dependency, employment, homelessness, welfare, social isolation and contact with the criminal justice system. We provide one to one peer support and mentoring and referrals to other partner organisations that can assist veterans with specific needs.
Veterans in need often have a complex cluster of issues and our volunteer peer support workers ensure that they receive the help they need in a holistic and coordinated manner with a single point of contact.
The VCP offices also provide a venue where they can receive treatment and assistance from other organisations in a welcoming, veteran orientated and non-judgemental environment.
All VCP staff are unpaid volunteers and veterans of the armed forces themselves. The King’s Award for Voluntary Service has equivalent status to an MBE for charitable organisations and its award to the VCP recognises the unstinting commitment of time, effort and dedication by the staff to help fellow veterans in need.
The Board of Trustees and our volunteers are delighted to have received the award.
