Leading Armed Forces charity, Walking With The Wounded (‘WWTW’), has just announced a new partnership with Forces Support, a UK Bereavement and Veterans Charity, who are providing funding for WWTW’s North-East hub, based in North Shields.
WWTW has had a presence in the North-East since 2018. It has been fully operational in the area since June 2019, however, the development of the physical hub started in March 2020, and it was officially opened on Remembrance Day 2020. The hub provides veteran housing, access to welfare and employability support to ex-military, empowering them to regain their independence, thrive and contribute in our communities. Forces Support has agreed to provide three years of funding for the new North-East hub.
Fergus Williams, CEO of WWTW, commented,
“WWTW is delighted to announce the partnership with Forces Support. Collaboration is one of our key values and it is vital that organisations work together to provide the best possible services for ex-military and their families.
We have been fully operational in the North-East for over 2 years and with Forces Support, we will be able to provide more mental health and employment services for the ex-military and their families who are based in the North-East.”
Tommy Watson, WWTW Director of Operations (North) added,
“The North-East hub provides life changing support services to the local armed forces community. The past 2 years have been transformational for our northern services and the new partnership with Forces Support will enable us to reach even more veterans and their families.”
Carol Reynolds, CEO of Forces Support, said,
“Forces Support is excited to be working in partnership with Walking With The Wounded. We have been operating for over 10 years, helping bereaved families who have lost loved ones who served in the Armed Forces, and we support veterans too. Our new partnership will provide funding for WWTW’s North-East hub and enable us to continue to support those who served.”
