Do you have experience in supporting vulnerable adults and empowering them to move forward with their journey?
Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) is recruiting six Veteran Liaison & Support Officers (VLSO) in the East of England covering the regions of Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire, with one VLSO working in each county.
***Please note that we are advertising each post separately. There is no change to the job description other than the region. If you wish to apply for more than one region, please only complete one application and outline the posts you wish to apply for in your personal statement.
Please also note that whilst the successful candidate will predominantly work in their county, they may be required to support neighbouring counties to cover/support staff.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new team, working alongside Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation Trust (NSFT) to deliver the NHS High Intensity Service (HIS) in the East of England.
We are looking for a dedicated individual who will empower ex-service personnel to regain their independence after a period of Mental Health (MH) Crisis to support them to thrive and contribute to our communities. The six VLSOs will work as part of a wider collaborative team including NSFT as Lead Provider, and Combat Stress. Together we will form the new High Intensity Service in the East which fits within NHS England’s Op Courage, the Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing service.
You will be home based with daily travel around your region to support your clients and build relationships in the community, whilst working as part of the wider regional NHS HIS clinical team and Peer Support Workers. You will need to be a self-starter with the motivation and the ability to get the job done.
WWTW supports those who have served in the British Armed Forces and their families. We specialise in developing pathways to independence as well as employment with organisations who recognise and value the unique skills and qualities of our ex-service personnel.
We are looking for a self-starter with prior experience of working with vulnerable adults, an individual who can work independently to set priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of role responsibilities. Your role will be to work with clients in the community (or their homes) facilitating intense support by analysing individual needs to create a support plan that will break down barriers to a successful stabilisation and navigate the pathway of their Mental Health journey.
In return, we will provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate and develop your skills and career as a Veterans Liaison & Support Officer in a supportive, inclusive environment. In this role, no two days are the same and every day will bring new challenges. Internal training will be provided, and we encourage our staff to develop their own personal and professional skills.
