What’s in store for 2025

This year’s WIE25 event focuses on why your background is your greatest strength, and how the challenges you’ve had along the way should be highlighted rather than hidden. The emphasis for the day will be on championing the real YOU in the workplace and the transferable skills you have to offer.

We have a range of expert panellists exploring roles that utilise some of the key transferable skills that you bring to the workplace:

– Communication and creative skills

– Adaptability and resilience

– People skills

This event offers valuable and unique access to employment opportunities from across a variety of industries, with companies who recognise the talent the military community has to offer.

Register today to join us for a unique opportunity to meet new contacts, gain insight into a wide range of sectors and champion the real you.

We will be welcoming back Sian Grzeszczyk who will be our compere for the day. Sian, a military spouse, works for BFBS as an international news reporter and journalist. For nearly a decade prior to that, she was a senior political reporter for BBC News.

Top five reasons to join us:

  1. Top tips from industry speakers and HR Teams to help advance your career
  1. Hear from those who have travelled before you as a Service leaver or veteran into civvy street; or a spouse or family member, and what their learning points have been
  1. Build valuable connections – meet with circa 20 companies and their talent teams during the afternoon to hear about different opportunities and pathways available
  1. Know what to do next – be clear on your next steps and how to make use of our employment advisors at the Forces Employment Charity to spring yourself forward into your next career chapter!
  1. Update your professional headshot for your LinkedIn account, a complimentary offer for you to take away with you by our professional photographer, Terry Benson

Feedback from WIE24’s event:

An event where I felt supported and connected and from where I can draw further support and training to encourage me further on my steps to employment. I recognised that I have much more to offer than I think and to remember that the skills I have can be applied to a broader job market than I initially believed. The message that you are not alone, and you have lots to offer is my takeaway from today. There are many possibilities out there and FEC are there to help you go and get them.

Liz Morley – Military Spouse
