ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is thrilled to announce that the popular Yorkshire ale, Timothy Taylor’s Havercake, is back in cask this year and that ten pence from every pint sold will be donated to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity. Havercake will be making its debut at the Keighley & Worth Valley Beer and Music Festival on 13-16 October and will then be available in pubs across the UK.
Originally brewed to honour the soldiers of the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, nicknamed the ‘Havercake Lads’, the name is derived from the oatmeal bread widely eaten in Yorkshire towns and villages where most of the soldiers lived.
Scott Cameron, Senior Brand Manager at Timothy Taylor’s, said:
“It’s fantastic to be able to welcome back Havercake for 2022, a real crowd-pleaser. We have always had very close ties with our Armed Forces, and to be able to support ABF The Soldiers’ Charity this year through sales of Havercake brings us a lot of pride.”
Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, said:
“We are very grateful to Timothy Taylor’s for this kind gesture in support of the Army’s national charity, and for reminding us about Havercake’s historical connection to the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment and the fine soldiers of Yorkshire.”
